HUGSS (Helping Unite Gold Star Survivors) is a non profit 501c(3) charitable organization with emphasis of providing needed support to surviving families whether, mom, dad, a brother / sister, daughter or son, who have lost their lives as a member of our military. HUGSS is independent of the Department of Defense military programs, however, it's headquarters are on the largest military installation in the world at Fort Hood, Texas. At this location HUGSS organization operates the Gold Star Family Support Center which provides necessary hands-on program activity for Gold Star Families nationwide.
Gold Star Family Support Center Functions:
· Providing extended care for Gold Star Families beyond what the Care Teams and Casualty Assistance Officers can offer.
· To act as the Gold Star Family's voice when necessary.
· To act as a liaison between the Gold Star Family and their Unit: Communication and contact information for special memorials and events.
· Support group: sense of community that understands
· Resources and Programs: Grief Camp for kids, web site, bereavement materials.
· Training Family Readiness Groups, Care Teams, and Casualty Assistance Officers.
