Food For Families is a coalition of food pantries across Central Texas who have banded together to
collect non-perishable food in a one-day coordinated drive on the Friday before Thanksgiving.
All food donated stays in the county in which it was collected to serve the people in need in that county. Food For Families is operated by four partner organizations, Longhorn Council of Boy Scouts of America, H.E.B. Grocery Company, Texas Army National
Guard and KWTX Media.
The 2012 Food For Families food drive set an all time record. Central Texans have generously donated food and money totalling more than one million pounds for seven of the past eight years. In November 2012, 1,453,065 was collected.
