KWTX - Sports Friday - Headlines

High School Football Practices Start Monday

(August 1, 2010)--For many Central Texas football programs, football practices start this Monday.

Schools that did not participate in spring drills (mostly 3A and below) can begin on August 2nd. Schools that did go through spring football can start on August 9th.

KWTX and 254sports.com will once again be all over high school football practices in Central Texas.

The 2-A-Day tours will begin August 2nd during the 6pm sportscast. Every sportscast after that will have a preview of a local team. The previews will run until Wednesday, August 25th.

Check back to 254sports.com for an updated scheudle of when your favorite school's preview will air.

    last time i checked clifton beat hillsboro in there opener so i dont think there a contender because clifton dominated on the line of scrimmage

    although you may feel that Hillsboro is not a contender you might want think again these boys have all united as a team quite often all it takes is a team with HEART to win a whole season. DONT COUNT THEM OUT JUST YET !!!!! PS. THEY will have good coaches for a second year. Its these coaches who have brought EAGLE PRIDE back on the field,in the school and community!

    What about the Midway Panthers? Midway has at least a couple of D1 football scholarships on their team this year. Starting with (DE/DT) Beau Blackshear(committed to Baylor), (Safety) Shakiel Randolph

    Bob, while that may or may not be true, the same can be said about half of the teams here already. Why are any of them any more special? The idea is to spotlight local centex teams, contender or not.

    Theres nothing special about Hillsboro they're never a contender for the district title their going to be battling for 5th and 6th with Venus
