AUSTIN (June 8, 2011) -- A five-run fifth inning launched Robinson
past Texarkana Pleasant Grove, 5-1, in the UIL Class 3A state
baseball semifinals.
The Wednesday win sets up a Thursday Class 3A final between
Robinson and Kennedale in Austin.
Leadoff hitter Zac Law got things started for Robinson in the
bottom of the fifth with a double. Alex Rogers followed with a
bunt, moving Law to third. Law scored the tying run when Pleasant
Grove first baseman Michael Ward committed an error on the next
play.
The Hawks (32-8) would commit three more errors in the inning as
the Rockets (31-5) went on to take a 5-1 lead.
Pleasant Grove scored in the top of the first but never found an
answer to Robinson's fifth-inning onslaught.
