Waco (June 15, 2011) -- Two new winners emerged from the pack in the final round of the Open Championship at the Starburst Junior Golf Classic. Lake Travis' Julia Beck and Houston's Matthew Dunn took home the title.
Beck, a 16-year old who competed for the third time in the event, took the final round lead from Oklahoma's Kailey Campbell, with a final round 75. Beck competed on the Lake Travis girls golf team that recently qualified for the state tournament.
Matthew Dunn also made a final round push, taking advantage of a final round collapse from San Antonio's Tyler Bumpass. Bumpass shot an 84, to fall into a tie for 13th. Dunn finished with a 72, to win by two strokes over Montgomery's Kyle Beard.
The highest local finisher for the girls came from Temple's McKenzie Ralston. Her final round 77 put her in third place, eight strokes behind Beck. On the boys side, Belton High's Andrew Paysse carded a 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for 11th.
