Belton's Paysse Wins 5A State Golf Title

Austin (April 30, 2013) -- First trip to state, and a first state title.

Belton junior Andrew Paysse held off a talented field to capture the 5A state individual golf championship Tuesday at Morris Williams Golf Course in Austin.

Paysse, who was tied for the lead heading into the final round, fired a 1-under 71, to finish with a two-day total of 138. Three golfers finished a stroke back with a two-day total of 139, The Woodlands' Brad Able, McKinney Boyd's Vincent Whaley and Lake Travis' Klein Klotz.

Paysse qualified for state after winning a playoff for the No. 3 medalist spot, added by the UIL this year, at Texas Tech’s The Rawls Course.
