Blue Tops Red In 6th Annual FCA Victory Bowl

WACO (June 14, 2014) The Blue Team scored 21 consecutive points and held on to beat the Red Team 21-16 in the 6th annual FCA Victory Bowl.

Tied 7-7 in the second quarter, Bosqueville's CJ Collins found Chilton's Charles Simpson on a 49-yard touchdown pass to put the Blue Team ahead for good 14-7. Collins was named the offensive most valuable player of the game.

"To be able to have receivers that run a 4.3 and have unbelievable speed and to have some hands that catch the ball," said Collins. "Give big thanks, huge thanks to the line, they did amazing."

In the third quarter, the Blue Team added to the lead when Jacob Gallegos found his Fairfield teammate Alex Ward for a 9-yard touchdown for a 21-7 advantage.

"You know our plan was to take some shots," said Blue Team head coach Tommy Allison. "We had two unbelievable quarterbacks and we had some speed on the edges and so we were going to take shots and just see what happens and the kids made some plays."

In the fourth quarter the Red Team added a safety and McGregor's Troy Allison found Carwford's Colton Adamick on a late touchdown pass to cur the lead to 21-16. The Red Teams onside kick attempt was recovered by the Blue Team.

The Red Team took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Tamarcus Sheppard's (Italy) 3-yard touchdown run.

The Blue Team tied the game on Collins' 22-yard touchdown pass to La Vega's Javon Livings.

Lorena's Kyle Perlowski was named the game's defensive MVP.

It's the second straight season the Blue Team has won the game. The Red team won the previous four FCA Victory Bowls.
