Carroll Resigns As University Football Head Coach

WACO (February 22, 2013) -- Matt Carroll has resigned as the head football coach at University High School. 254Sports spoke directly to Carroll Friday afternoon confirming the resignation. Carroll is pursuing coaching opportunities in San Antonio.

Carroll released this statement to 254Sports this afternoon:

"I am leaving my position as Athletic Coordinator/ Head Football Coach at University High School. I will be heading to San Antonio to pursue other coaching opportunities. I sincerely appreciate having had the opportunity to work within the UHS community!

Thank you to all the parents, student/ athletes, faculty and staff for the support, guidance, and encouragement you have provided me during my time at University High School. Even though I will miss each and every one of you dearly, I am looking forward to the challenges of my new endeavors and to starting a new phase of my career."

Carroll went 22-32 in his five seasons at University including a 5-5 record this past season. The Trojans last playoff appearance came in 2009.
