(June 4, 2012) -- Former Harker Heights standout and Texas freshman offensive lineman Camrhon Hughes tore his ACL in his right knee playing pick-up basketball. UT announced in a news release he'll have reconstructive surgery and will redshirt the 2012 season.
Hughes, a 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, early enrolled in January to get a head start with his football career. He figured to have a shot on the depth chart to earn a starting job on the offensive lineman.
Hughes, whose brother is Naashon Hughes, a senior for the Knights and 2013 Texas commitment, was one of four offensive linemen the Longhorns signed in 2012.
