AUSTIN (June 9, 2011) -- Hayden Elrod retired 14 of the final 15
batters faced and allowed three hits in a complete game as
Kennedale beat Robinson 5-1 in the UIL Class 3A Championship.
Zach Holley's RBI single, which drove in Jimmy Norris in the
third inning, proved to be the game-winning run, putting Kennedale
up 2-1.
Kennedale (33-5-1) added an insurance run in the fourth inning
and two more in the sixth to help solidify the school's first state
title.
Robinson (31-6) scored its only run in the second inning on a
Brandon Johnson RBI single scoring Chance Collins to tie the game
1-1.
