Midway Softball Falls In State Semis

AUSTIN (June 3, 2011) -- Forney exploded for seven second inning
runs and outlasted defending champion Waco Midway 9-6 to win a
Class 4A state softball semifinal game Friday.

Forney's Macie Tillery (27-5) pitched the complete game in temperatures that soared near 100 degrees. Tillery allowed 10 hits
and three earned runs while striking out five. Tillery added a home
run over the left field wall.

Forney (37-7) sent 12 batters to the plate in the second inning, scoring seven runs, six of them unearned. Hillary Steed, Krista
Williams and Brooke McCarroll had two hits each for the

Meredith Bristow and Alexia Rowe had two hits each for Midway (37-5).

The victorious Jackrabbits will face Santa Fe (36-6) in the
Saturday final.

    In the famous phrase of Steve Smith (Baylor baseball) "that's softball". But all kidding aside. Midway softball had a great year, keep your heads up...
