Refugio Holds Off Cisco For 2A D-II title

ARLINGTON (December 16, 2011) -- Travis Quintanilla passed for 372 yards and three touchdowns and Refugio stopped Cisco on fourth-and-short in the final minute to hold on for a 36-35 victory in the Class 2A Division II championship game Friday.

Refugio (15-0), which won its first state title since taking the 2A crown in 1970, led 36-19 early in the fourth quarter before Cisco came charging back.

Cisco (14-1) pulled within a point with two minutes left when Refugio opted for a safety rather than punting out of the end zone. But Cisco's final drive ended on downs just across midfield.

The loss in front of 10,456 at Cowboys Stadium was Cisco's fourth in four championship games the past 10 years.
