GEORGETOWN (April 18, 2013) Wearing black arm bands to honor nearby West after its town was struck with tragedy after an explosion at a Fertilizer plant Wednesday night, the University boys soccer team came from behind to beat Mesquite Poteet 4-3 in the sixth round of penalty kicks.
University goalkeeper Adrain Barragan made the clinching kick after stopping Poteet's penalty kick.
The Trojans trailed 2-1 until Francisco Ponce scored to tie the game with 2:28 remaining in regulation.
University took a 1-0 on Eli Sanchez's goal with 12 minutes left in the first half.
Poteet tied the game three minutes into the second half on Charles Ojeda's goal.
Carlos Cardenas gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the second half.
University (32-0) will play El Paso Del Valle (24-6) Saturday at 1:00 pm for the 4A state championship.
