(June 13, 2014) On the eve of the volleyball and football games, Victory Bowl athletes gave back to local youth Friday.
The football players were in local communities playing football with the kids.
"It's so fun. And they're nice," says nine-year-old Destiny Hamilton.
The athletes taught the kids about football and life. One concept they wanted to get across: going all-in.
"Be all-in with what you do. If you come out here, don't quit," says Gary Spencer of Lampasas High School. "That's the main thing. Trying to get them not to quit. Especially in life, when things are hard, don't quit. Stay all in. Stay all in with Jesus Christ and stay all in with what you're doing. Not only in the football field, but in your life."
The athletes say helping out the kids is as rewarding as playing in the game.
These kids are really looking up to us," says Lorena's Harris Coleman. "It's really awesome to see these smiles and just really influencing these kids. It's really exciting to do."
