(September 7, 2011) -- Ford Motor Company is proud to announce the winners of the 2011 Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week Award for Week 0-1. For the sixth consecutive year, Ford is honoring six gridiron heroes for their performance and leadership on and off the field for each week of the regular football season.
Here is the list of this week’s winners:
Class 5-A: Trey Williams, Sr., RB, Spring Dekaney
Class 4-A: Darrell Harris, Sr., RB/DB/KR, Waco
Class 3-A: Avery Saenz, Sr., QB, Tyler Chapel Hill
Class 2-A: Justin Twine, Soph., QB, Hemphill
Class 1-A: Rain Rieke, Sr., QB/S/P, Beckville
Private Schools: Daniel Davidson, Jr., QB, TCA-Addison
Harris' opened up the 2011 season by rushing for 327 yards and six touchdowns to lead Waco to a 52-35 victory over Austin High. Harris followed that performance by catching two touchdown passes of 61 and 50 yards in Week 1 against Copperas Cove.
