(December 16, 2012)--NFL teams held moments of silence Sunday to remember the victims of the school shooting rampage Friday in Newtown, Conn.

Flags were at half-staff at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens hosted the Denver Broncos.

With the Maryland National Guard standing on the opposite end of the field from the flag bearers, the scoreboards went black as the public address announcer asked the crowd to observe "silent reflection" in the wake of Friday's "horrific tragedy."

Players from both team stood stoically on the sideline.

The moment of silence was followed by the national anthem.

Tributes Sunday weren’t limited to American stadiums.

AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino dedicated his goal Sunday to the victims of the school shooting in Connecticut.

After the game, an emotional Nocerino said he wanted to "take the chance to dedicate my goal to the American families of the children killed in the school, my thoughts are only with them."

The Italian scored after just 35 seconds of Milan's 4-1 win over Pescara.

Nocerino, who has two young children, says he doesn't "know how much the dedication will help the dead American children, but everything I did today was only for them."
