(July 17, 2013)—Baylor University running back and former Temple High School standout Lache Seastrunk was named the Big 12 Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Wednesday.
The conference announced its 2013 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team as well as individual awards Wednesday.
The players were chosen by media representatives who cover the league.
Other individual selections include TCU defensive lineman Devonte Fields as Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and West Virginia running back Charles Sims as Preseason Newcomer of the Year.
During the final six games of the 2012 season, Seastrunk averaged 138.5 yards a game.
For the season, the junior racked up 1,012 yards and seven touchdowns and was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year and Holiday Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player.
He enters the 2013 season on a four-game streak of 100-yard rushing games.
Baylor offensive lineman Cyril Richardon and linebacker Bryce Hager were both named to the preseason team, as well.
Former Midway High School standout John Hubert, now a Kansas State running back, was also named to the team.
