HOUSTON (October 11, 2013) -- With four runners in the top nine, the Baylor women’s cross country team won the HBU Invitational on Friday at the St. Agnes Athletics Fields.
On a 5K-course, Erika Overbeck was the first BU runner to finish as she took fifth in a time of 8:13.0. Lindsey Smith was only two seconds behind to take sixth-place in 18:15.0. Lauren Hierholzer was seventh overall and the third Baylor runner to finish in a time of 18:32.0.
In her first meet since the Bear Twilight Invitational, Sofia Pitouli placed ninth by running the distance in 18:34.0. The final BU scoring runner was Kristina Brown, who was 20th in a time of 19:13.0
Those five runners tallied a team score of 31, which was 24 points ahead of second-place Texas A&M.
