(February 16, 2014) No. 6 Baylor (7-2) fell to No. 7 Oklahoma, 4-3, in the consolation draw of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Galleria Tennis and Athletic Center.
BU wrapped up its participation at the event, by winning the doubles point for first time in three matches. BU nabbed a pair of 6-4 wins coming on courts two and three to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Oklahoma answered back quickly in singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win by No. 4 Axel Alvarez Llamas over 18th-ranked Diego Galeano on court two. The Sooners maintained the momentum picking up the go-ahead point on court six with a Peerakit Siributwong 6-3, 6-0 victory over Vince Schneider.
The Bears struck back on court five with a Tony Lupieri 6-2, 6-2 victory over Alex Ghilea to bring the score to 2-2. No. 28 Andrew Harris put the Sooners one point away with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Mate Zsiga on court three, before BU’s Michel Dornbusch picked up a huge upset win 6-3, 4-6, 6-5(6) over No. 46 Dane Webb on court four.
With the match tied at 3-3, the focus shifted to court one where No. 9 Patrick Pradella faced off against No 2 Guillermo Alcorta. Pradella had claimed the first set 6-4, but was unable to capitalize, dropping the second and third sets to lose 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
