DALLAS (September 1, 2013) -- No. 11 Baylor (4-0-0) soccer followed its winning formula to a 2-0 win at SMU (2-2-0) on Sunday night at Westcott Field. For the fourth straight match, BU scored in the first 25 minutes and locked down on defense to extend a program-record unbeaten streak to 25 matches and get off to the best start of the Jobson coaching era.
Ashley York provided all the scoring Baylor needed as she scored from the box in the 17th minute off an assist by Bri Campos for her first career game-winner. Larissa Campos later put the game out of reach with a goal from the box in the 65th minute on a header off a pass from Karlee Summey.
Recording her second straight shutout, BU goalkeeper Michelle Kloss (4-0-0) made two saves, including the play of the game in the 53rd minute. With SMU’s Shelby Redman lining up for a penalty kick from the right side of the box from 15 yards out, Kloss jumped to her left and blocked away Redman’s shot to the high right corner.
