WACO (October 12, 2013) -- No. 23 Baylor dropped a 2-1 decision to Texas on Friday evening at Mike A. Myers Field. The loss for the Bears (8-3-2, 1-2-0) ended a program-record 12-match road unbeaten streak as the Longhorns (10-4-1, 4-1-0) scored two goals in the second half for the win.
After Baylor played strongly in the first half, holding a 4-0 edge in shots on goal, Texas came out strong in the second half. The Longhorns’ Sharis Lachappelle scored in the 48th and 50th minutes, while Baylor had just one shot on goal in the second half. That shot came from Natalie Huggins in the 87th minute off a rebound and hit the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
But the Bears were unable to muster another goal in the final three minutes to force overtime, giving Texas its first win over the Bears since 2010.
