Baylor Soccer Hosts Nebraska, McNeese State

WACO (August 30, 2012) -- The Baylor women’s soccer team will play back-to-back home games for the first time this season as the Bears welcome Nebraska (1-3) on Friday at 7 p.m. and McNeese State (1-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. to Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. Sunday’s game will serve as Senior Day for BU’s six seniors.

The Bears will be renewing an old Big 12 rivalry with Nebraska when the two teams tangle on Friday night. In their 15 years together in the league, Nebraska held an 8-6-1 edge in conference games. BU and NU also met four times in the conference tournament with the Huskers winning each contest.

Under Jobson, Baylor has never lost to the Cornhuskers including last season’s 1-1 tie in Lincoln on Aug. 21. Dana Larsen scored the lone BU goal in the 16th minute and while the Bears held a 1-0 advantage at halftime Nebraska’s Stacey Bartels would score in the 59th minute to knot the contest.

After a splitting a pair of games last week, Baylor is receiving votes in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, while being listed at No. 33 in TopDrawerSoccer.com’s projection of the NCAA Championship field.
