Baylor Soccer Travels To California To Face Two Big West Foes

WACO (August 23, 2012) -- The 24th-ranked Baylor women's soccer team will put is undefeated record on the line as the Bears travel to California this weekend to face a pair of Big West opponents. The Bears tangle with Cal State Northridge on Friday at 9 p.m. (CT) in Northridge, Calif., and then turn around to face 15th-ranked Long Beach State on Sunday at 3 p.m. (CT) in Long Beach, Calif.

The Bears are off to the seventh 2-0 start in program history (1996, ‘97, ‘98, 2002, ‘03, ‘07 and ‘10) and second under Marci Jobson, after opening up the 2010 campaign 3-0. BU’s longest win streak to open a season is five, which has occurred three times (1996, ‘98 and 2002).

Baylor is ranked No. 24 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. It is the first time that the Bears have cracked the top 25 in any of the three major polls since November 10, 1999. BU is also receiving votes in the SoccerTimes.com poll and listed at No. 32 in TopDrawerSoccer.com’s projection of the NCAA Championship field.
