WACO (November 13, 2013) While the Baylor softball team is busy preparing for the 2014 season, head coach Glenn Moore inked seven signees to prepare for the Bears of the future, Wednesday. Baylor signed a right-handed pitcher, two outfielders, two infielders, a catcher and a utility player as parts of the 2015 signing class.
Baylor looks for continued excellence under Moore, the 13-year head coach as the team has compiled two Women’s College World Series appearances, one Big 12 title and eight NCAA tournament appearances in his tenure at the helm.
With Wednesday’s seven signings, Baylor took another step towards continued success.
“This class has it all: pitching, catching, infield, outfield, hitting and speed,” Moore said. “This is the most complete class we’ve ever signed. If you added a couple of players to make nine, it would make a pretty decent team on its own.”
Baylor will lose four players at the conclusion of the 2014 season, and Moore said that his goals for the 2015 class were similar to previous seasons.
“We try to go after a pitcher in each class, and from there we address our needs, but with early recruiting, one of the things we try to do is recruit athletes,” Moore said. “We try to recruit versatile players, and I feel we accomplished that with this class. Some have very specific tools, but in large part can be moved around.”
