WACO (November 13, 2013) Baylor picked up an elusive fourth Big 12 win Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center by sweeping Texas Tech 25-21, 25-19, 25-22. The Bears (12-16, 4-8) snapped a three-match losing skid in league play by hitting .321 as a team and holding the Red Raiders (9-19, 2-10) to just a .113 mark.
Zoe Adom and Adrien Richburg had 11 kills apiece while Laura Jones was one kill shy of a double-double with 12 digs and nine kills. Kayci Evans had 13 digs defensively, and the Bears out-blocked TTU 10-4.
Baylor closed the match on an 8-1 run and scored the last five points of the third set to take the victory. Texas Tech led 21-17 in the third set after a kill from Aubree Piper, but Baylor battled back for its second sweep of a Big 12 opponent. Jones’ three kills and service ace highlighted the closing run for Baylor.
The Bears have now won 17 of the last 18 matches with Texas Tech and swept the season series after their win over TTU in Lubbock, Oct. 26.
