FRANKLIN, Tenn. (September 20, 2013) -- Baylor women’s golf finished Friday’s first round of play in sixth place at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course in Franklin, Tenn. The Lady Bears shot 4-over-par 292 in the first of three rounds in their first-ever appearance at the tournament.
Junior Hayley Davis shot 4-under-par 68 to finish the day in a tie for first place with Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow. Davis and Meadow are one stroke ahead of North Carolina State’s Augusta James, who is in third place at 3-under-par. Junior Emma Carberry shot even-par-72 to put her in a tie for 14th place.
Sophomores Laura Lonardi and Annette Lyche are tied for 46th place after shooting 4-over-par 76, while freshman Hadas Libman shot 5-over-par 77 to put her in a tie for 60th place. Sophomore Natalia Perez, who is playing as an individual, shot 5-over-par 77 in the first round.
Baylor is one stroke back of North Carolina State (+3) in fifth place and just three strokes back of UCLA and Vanderbilt (+1), which are tied for second behind tournament leader Arizona State (-3).
