Baylor's Vildosola Headlines Day One At Texas Relays

(March 26, 2014) Two heptathletes and two decathletes kicked off the Baylor track and field team’s participation in the 87th-annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Wednesday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Senior Henry Vildosola currently sits in 11th-place with 3,360 points after five events of the decathlon competition. The product of Moreno Valley, Calif., set personal-bests in the 100-meter dash and the shot put to help him stay in the top half of the overall standings.

With 24 competitors in the field to start the day, Vildosola placed 18th in the 100-meters with a time of 11.25. The senior’s highest finish of the day came in the shot put where he took sixth, after bettering his PR by over two feet with a mark of 43-5.75 [13.25m].

On the women’s side in the heptathlon competition, Jessica Shadley highlighted the day. She currently is in 18th-place with 2,835 points after four events have been completed. The senior’s best finish in an event came in the 200-meter dash where she clocked a time of 26.21 to be 18th.

HIGHLIGHTS
· Jenna Pfeiffer set a personal-best in the shot put with a throw of 30-8.5 [9.36m].
· Senior Hunter Brook was unable to finish his day, after aggravating a leg injury in the 100-meter dash.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor athletes will be back in action at the Texas Relays on Thursday. The decathlon competition resumes at 10 a.m. with the 110-meter hurdles, while the heptathlon events gets cranked up again at 11 a.m. Individual field events start at 12:30 p.m. with running events beginning at 4:30 p.m.
