(July 18, 2013) -- Former Baylor All-American and Texas Rangers outfielder David Murphy moved into the everyday lineup this season. But the 31-year-old has struggled at the plate so far, batting just .219 prior to the All-Star break.
But like in past years, Murphy hopes to get the bat going in the second half of the season. With 41 at-bats in July, Murph is slugging close to .400, with 2 home runs. If he continues to improve, it will bolster a Rangers offense trying to track down the Oakland Athletics in the American League West division.
