(March 7, 2013) -- You may recognize this voice over the public address system at the Ferrell Center.
It belongs to Derek Smith. Since 2005, Smith has manned the mic for Baylor basketball games.
I knew announcing was something I wanted to do and when I came here to Baylor," Smith said. "I was able to get involved in the athletic department a little bit and started with softball, and I still get to do play-by-play for softball."
"But started there on PA and was able to move up to basketball when other people moved on."
Smith, who also took over PA duties at Baylor football games this past fall, is glad to have a front row seat, during the ascension of both Baylor basketball programs.
