(October 23, 2014) It was one of the biggest moments in Baylor junior wide receiver Levi Norwood's career, his first punt return for a touchdown against Iowa State on October 19, 2013.
"It was a huge relief, even when I got into the endzone, I really didn't know what to do," said the former Midway standout, "I wanted to celebrate, but I got in and I stopped and I was like, about time."
And someone close to Levi got to share that special moment with him, his dad, and Baylor associate head coach Brian Norwood.
"I was excited for the punt return unit, I was excited for the team, I was excited for the moment, and as a dad, I had my dad moment," said the Bears safety and punt return coach.
Brian gets another chance to coach his son on the collegiate level. When he was an assistant at Penn State, Brian got to coach son Jordan.
"The guy who's a good friend of mine, named Larry Johnson, who coached with me at Penn State, he had a son Larry and Tony who played there also," said Brian. "He told me right from the beginning, when this opportunity came for me at Penn State, there are still your sons and don't feel nervous about your interaction with them as a father during practice."
Family being here, and seeing the relationship my brother and my dad had because they were on the same staff together, that's part of the reason I ended up coming here, added Levi, "because I wanted to be with my family and be with my dad."
