WACO (November 13, 2013) The new home of Baylor football is almost half done.
"Where we are right now on the job, we are about 46 percent complete to hwere we need to be to finish the job," said Senior Superintendent Jeff Horn. "We'll be finishing up our precast risers the first week of December. We'll be finishing up our structural steel erection about the first week of January. It's on schedule, that's where we need to be at."
"We're about 90 percent done with concrete work, you see all the high concrete work is done," said Senior Project Manager Jim Heley. "We're getting ready to put the lower bowl of concrete seating in which comes down towards the field. So if you can envision the walls on the end there coming all the way down towards the field, that's going to carry all the way around."
Work on the stadium slowed due to inclimate weather. But with an increased schedule, the time has been made up.
"On a daily basis we're averaging around 465 to 500 people every day working on site. We're working six days a week, we have been working seven days the last couple weeks on Sundays due to the rain. We started a night shift this week," said Horn. "We've caught back up with our days working the Sunday work, night shift work, we're right where we need to be. Our next biggest milestone is getting dried in on the west side. That's our key to getting all the finshes going on on the west side. We've got a lot of the work going in place but the actual finish work cannot get completed till we get dried in. Like I said, that will be around the first of the year, we'll have some of those areas dried in for that."
The goal for substantial completion is August 1st.
