(March 28, 2013) -- For the final game at the Ferrell Center this season, there was a special guest on hand.
"It's not everyday a former President calls and says I want to come to your game," said Baylor Women's head coach Kim Mulkey. "And I didn't tell the team and I told very few people because you want to respect his privacy."
"I remember when, I think I was in high school when he came the first time," said Lady Bears Post Brittney Griner. "I think I was at the game, yeah, I was actually at the game. I didn't really get to just meet him, I saw him from a distance and this time I got to actually see him."
"It was a great experience. Not very many people get to meet a President on any great day like this," said Lady Bears guard Odyssey Sims. "What better day to meet him on the last senior night for everyone."
"I thought it was good seeing President Bush outside of the history channel," said Lady Bears forward Brooklyn Pope. "I watched his documentary. He looked stressed on the documentary. At the game he looked real pleasant eating popcorn, so, I thought it was good seeing him and seeing how small he was in reality."
This is also the second president the non-freshman on the team have been able to meet.
"A lot of people can't say they have and the fact I have, I'm very grateful," said Lady Bears forward Destiny Williams. "And these are memories you can keep coming from Baylor."
"We walked in the locker room and when you think about it, those kids have met two Presidents," said Mulkey. "Met them in an informal way, really, and spent time with them. That's a memory, that's a great memory."
And maybe one day, there may be President Griner.
"President Griner, I like that," said Griner.
"Oh god, come on," said Pope.
"What? You ain't going to vote for me Brooke?" said Griner.
"No," said Pope.
"Uh! Hey coach, take away her playing time," said Griner.
