Belton Promotes Assistant Coach Lewis To Boys Head Coach

BELTON (August 1, 2012) -- After serving five seasons as an assistant boys basketball coach at Belton, Charlie Lewis was promoted to head coach on Tuesday.

Lewis replaces John Osborn, who left for an assistant coaching job at L.D. Bell. The Tigers went 53-102 under Osborn with a 5-26 record in the 2011-12 season, 1-13 in 12-5A.

The 46-year-old Lewis, a Baylor University graduate, has served with Belton ISD since 2007, coaching basketball, track and football and teaching special education.

Before coming to Belton, he was a middle school basketball coach in the Temple ISD for five years.
