AUSTIN (March 10, 2012) -- Caleb Carr scored 17 points, 11 in the fourth quarter, to lead White Oak to the Class 2A state championship Saturday with a 61-53 win over Brock.
Carr opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer to push White Oak's lead to 50-40. Brock rallied to get within 56-53 on a Tre Ewell's 3-pointer before Carr ended the rally with four consecutive free throws in the final 41 seconds. Carr was 8 of 10 from the free throw line.
Levi Yancy and Jerred Whisenhunt each scored 11 points for White Oak (37-1), which won its first state championship since 1957.
Kanton Wood scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Brock (30-7), which couldn't match the state championship won by the Brock girls a week earlier.
