Crawford Wins 2A State Title

(May 31, 2012) -- Crawford's first ever trip to the state tournament will be a memorable one.

The big stage did not bother the Lady Pirates, as the squad captured its first state title in program history with a 5-1 win over Alpine in the 2A state final Thursday night at McCombs Field in Austin.

Crawford broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a Tori Phillips RBI single. A Lady Bucks bunt single in the fourth scored a run to tie the contest at 1-1. With two outs, the Lady Pirates were able to get an RBI single with 2 outs to take lead 2-1. Crawford extend the lead in the top of the 7th by scoring three runs, all with 2 outs.
