WACO (May 13, 2013) -- Baylor sophomore guard Deuce Bello has decided to transfer after spending two seasons with the men’s basketball program, head coach Scott Drew announced Monday.
Bello played in 66 games over two seasons at Baylor. He saw significant action with the Bears, averaging 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game. Bello also recorded 36 steals and 17 blocks in his two-year Baylor career.
“We wouldn’t have been able to make it to the Elite Eight in 2012 or win this year’s NIT championship without the contributions of Deuce Bello,” head coach Scott Drew said. “Baylor Nation is thankful for the two years he spent here, and we wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward with his collegiate career.”
Bello made numerous highlight reels with his acrobatic dunks and played a crucial role with his defensive presence during the Bears’ postseason runs. He also traveled to Poland and Germany with teammate Brady Heslip as part of a summer 2012 Athletes in Action tour.
