Belton (May 8, 2013) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s tennis player Brittni Fausett has been selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Individual National Championships. Fausett becomes the first UMHB individual to claim a berth in an NCAA postseason event. Fausett, a senior from Cameron Yoe High School, is one of 32 individuals selected to play in the NCAA singles bracket. She has a 22-2 record in singles this season, won the American Southwest Conference Individual singles title and the ITA Southwest Regional singles championship in the fall. Fausett also advanced to the ITA Small College National Championships and finished third nationally in that event. She is one of three ASC players selected in the singles bracket, joining Texas Lutheran’s Sofia Vega and U.T.-Dallas’ Casey Johnson. Gabrielle Clark of Emory University is the defending Division III National Champion and once again made the field this season. Sixteen doubles teams were also selected to compete in the doubles bracket. The draws and seedings for the NCAA Tournament will be released on May 22nd, the final day of the NCAA Division III Team Tennis Championship.
The NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Individual National Championships will be held May 23-25 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
