Former Copperas Cove Standout Earns Conference Weekly Honor

Belton (October 23, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball player Sapphire Reid has been named American Southwest Conference East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st.

Reid, a senior outside hitter from Copperas Cove, hit .386 with 40 kills over a 3-0 week to close out conference play for the Cru last week. She added 28 digs, eight blocks and a service ace. Reid shares this week’s honor with U.T.-Dallas outside hitter Dana Hilzendager.

The Cru is 19-5 overall and finished 12-4 in ASC East Division play. UMHB will close out the regular season with a pair of matches at the Southwestern University Halloween Classic this Saturday. The Cru will then advance to the ASC Championship Tournament in Abilene next weekend.
