Former Ellison Golfer Earns Conference Honor

Belton (October 4, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golfer Robby Schimmels has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending October 3rd.

Schimmels, a junior from Ellison High School, won the individual title at the Al Jones Memorial Tournament after carding a 74-70=144. Schimmels then won a scorecard playoff with U.T.-Tyler’s John Dukes to claim the title. He also shares this week’s Golfer of the Week honor with Dukes. Schimmels helped lead the UMHB men to a second place team finish in that event.

The Cru men will return to action with the Alamo City Classic. That tournament will be played October 22nd and 23rd in San Antonio.
