Belton (October 25, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golfer Taylor O’Rear has been named American Southwest Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending October 24th.
O’Rear, a sophomore from Salado High School, takes ASC Women’s Golfer of the Week honors for the second straight week. She fired a conference-record 36-hole total of 1-under-par 70-73=143 to win the individual title and guide the UMHB women to a team crown by 39 strokes at the Alamo City Classic at River Crossing in Spring Branch, Texas. O’Rear’s opening-round 2-under-par 70 (35-35) was also an ASC record. Her card was eight strokes better than individual runner-up and teammate Victoria Thane (76-75). O’Rear also won last week after sharing the individual championship at the Golfweek Fall Preview.
The UMHB women fired a school-record 36-hole total of 607 to win the team championship at the Alamo City Classic. That tournament closed out the fall schedule for the UMHB women.
