(May 8, 2013) -- Former Waco High Lion and TCU sprinter Charles Silmon was named the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Oustanding Male Performer of the Year by the league on Wednesday.
The senior was the high point scorer at the Big 12 Track & Field Championship in Waco last weekend, as he tallied 22.50 points. He swept the sprint titles, winning the 100 meters and 200 meter while also leading the Frogs to victory in the 4x100-meter relay.
Silmon’s 200-meter time of 20.33 is the best in the NCAA this year and is currently the sixth-fastest time in the world this outdoor season.
Led by his effort last weekend, TCU jumped to the No. 17 spot in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
