Gillispie Resigns As Head Coach/AD At West

(December 11, 2012) -- Sam Gillispie announced his resignation as head football coach/athletic director at West this morning. Gillispie spent two season as Trojans head coach, compiling a 1-19 record. Gillispie served as head coach/AD at Moody prior to taking the same job at West.

West superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford released this statement on the West ISD website after the resignation:

"Coach Gillispie displayed exceptional leadership of student-athletes and staff during his tenure in West. While we are disappointed he has chosen to pursue another position of leadership elsewhere, we certainly understand this professional privilege for Sam and that he is making this move with his family in mind, as always, first and foremost.

We wish the Gillispie Family the very best success and know that Coach, Mandy, and Annie will be well received in their new community because they are such great people."
