LIPAN (February 10, 2013) -- The McLennan Highlanders defeated the top-ranked Odessa Wranglers 6 1/2 to 2 1/2 in a men's golf dual match this weekend at the Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan.
The match began with doubles on Saturday. MCC's Ryan Beatty and Dillon Vaughn lost 4 and 3 to Odessa's Cody Taylor and Janzen Digby. Highlanders Andrew Hans and Chris Low halved Wranglers Beau Hanson and Kyle Gertner. MCC's Andrew Johnson and Kyle Southard won 1 up over Micah Rogers and Logan Philley.
In singles play on Sunday, MCC's Southard defeated Digby 5 and 3. Highlanders Vaughn, Beatty and Hans all won their matches 2 and 1 over Hanson, Gertner and Philley, respectively. MCC's Low fell 1 up to Rogers, and MCC's Johnson won 3 and 2 over Taylor.
The Highlanders will play in the Texas JUCO Championship Preview on Feb. 18-19 at the Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo.
