(December 2, 2013) The McLennan Highlanders moved to 14-0 on the season with a 103-92 win over the Eastfield Harvesters Monday night in Mesquite.
McLennan started the game sluggish, allowing Eastfield to build the 14-4 lead with 15:38 to play in the first half. The Highlanders fought back, taking the 31-30 lead with 5:11 to go. The teams traded the lead the rest of the half with the Harvesters leading 41-40 at the break.
Eastfield extended the lead to six early in the second half. McLennan rallied to take the 60-59 lead with 12:18 to play in the game. The teams kept it close for the next six minutes. The Highanders began to pull away and took its first double-digit lead at 82-72 with 5:30 to go. The Harvesters cut the lead to seven several times down the stretch but were unable to pull any closer.
Freshman Jalen Jones and sophomore Wayne Langston led McLennan with 16 points each. Sophomore Tevin Hanner recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomores Shawn Prudhomme and Deondre Ray scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Highlanders and Harvesters will face off again at noon on Saturday at The Highlands.
