Highlanders Take Down North Lake

The McLennan Highlanders closed out the non-conference season with a 81-47 win over the North Lake Blazers Wednesday at The Highlands.

MCC opened the game on an 11-0 run and extended the lead to 13 with 8:96 to play in the half. North Lake rallied, cutting the lead to five but the Highlanders extended the lead to 10 at the break, 32-22.

Freshman D.J. Weathers scored eight consecutive points for MCC part of an 8-3 run for the Highlanders to open the second half. The Blazers cut the lead to 10 with 16:30 to play. MCC exploded with an 18-1 run to blow the game open and continued to pull away down the stretch.

Weathers lead the Highlanders with 17 points. Deondre Ray and Shawn Prudhomme added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

MCC will open conference play at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Weatherford.
