(April 6, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlanders swept the Temple Leopards this afternoon in Temple.
MCC took game one 9-0 in eight innings.
The Highlanders scored all nine runs in the top of the eighth inning. Brett Thornell drew a lead off walk, Quinten Davis singled and Dalton Vannatta singled to load the bases. Ty Marlow drew a walk, bringing Thornell in to score. Caleb Williams followed with a single to score Davis and Vannatta. Jonathan Mejia then singled to score Marlow. Matt Hilston and Reid Coover both singled, bringing Williams in to score. Derek Barosh then launched a grand slam home run over the right field wall.
MCC picked up the 5-3 win in game two.
The Highlanders began the scoring with three runs in the top of the first. Davis led off with a double and Thornell singled. Marlow was safe at first on a Temple error, bringing Davis in to score. Thornell came in to score on a fly out by Derek Barosh and Marlow scored on a double by Hilston.
Temple got on the board with one run in the bottom of the first as Blake Parker reached safely on a Highlander error, advanced to third on a double by Taylor Bridges and scored on a fly out by Chad Miller.
The Leopards added one run in the second as Keyon Barnes was hit by the pitch, moved to second on a ground out by Tres Galvan, advanced to third in a ground out by Ragan Pope and scored on a single by Justin Watson.
MCC added two runs in the top of the fifth. Marlow was safe at first on a dropped third strike and Barosh singled. Mejia then singled to score Marlow. Coover singled to load the bases and Vannatta drew a walk to bring Barosh in to score.
Barnes' solo home run in the bottom of the sixth rounded out the scoring for Temple.
MCC returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Grayson for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
The McLennan Highlassies and Ranger Lady Rangers split today's conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.
Ranger took game one 4-1 in eight innings with Kelly Smith picking up the loss for MCC. Taylor Kelm led the Highlassies at the plate, going 2-4 with a double, and Jessica Smith recorded an RBI.
MCC bounced back to take the nightcap 8-1 with Veronica Garcia getting the win. Victoria Alcozer was 2-2 at the plate with and RBI and Kelm was 2-4. Alli Akina recorded a double and an RBI. Kristyn Kolacek, Jill Jordan and Garcia all picked up an RBI.
The Highlassies return to action on Wednesday, hosting Hill for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
