The McLennan Highlassies defeated the Panola Fillies 78-70 Monday at the Highlands.

The two teams traded baskets for the first five minutes of play. MCC used a 9-2 run midway through the half to open up the game. The Highlassies led by as many as 11 and held the 40-30 lead at the break.

Panola cut the lead to five with 12:18 remaining in the game. MCC increased the lead back to 10 less than three minutes later but the Fillies weren't done. Panola rallied to tie the game at 60 with 6:19 to play. The Highlassies responded with a 12-1 run to take the 72-61 with two minutes remaining. Panola cut the lead to eight several times down the stretch but was unable to pull any closer.

Cha'Zaye Wright led the Highlassies with 23 pointsand Shanice Davis scored 13.
