Highlassies Fall To Blinn

(November 20, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlassies came up a little short as they fell to the No.25 Blinn Lady Buccaneers 91-84 tonight in Brenham.

The first half was dominated by 3-point shots with Highlassies draining six from the behind the arc and the Lady Buccaneers making four. Blinn led 12-8 with 15 minutes to play in the half. MCC used a 6-0 run in the next 30 seconds to take the 14-12 lead. The Highlassies increased the lead to nine with 6:32 on the clock and held the 45-40 advantage at the break.

The Lady Buccaneers opened the second half on a 5-0 run to tie the game. The two teams trade baskets until the 13 minute mark. Blinn built a 12-point lead with 8:37 remaining in the game. MCC cut the lead to five with 27 seconds to play but ran out of time to complete the comeback.

Justice Crisp, Cha'Zaye Wright and Shanice Davis scored 14 points each to lead the Highlassies. Sondra Flippin and Rae'Vaughn Barnes added 13 and 10, respectively.

MCC returns to action on Nov. 26, hosting Panola at 5:30 p.m.
