Highlassies Fall to North Central

The McLennan Highlassies dropped both games of Saturday's conference-opening doubleheader with North Central at Bosque River Ballpark.

North Central took game one 3-2 with Laura Wilson taking the loss in the circle for MCC.

The Highlassies began the scoring with one run in the third as Courtney Mica walked and scored on a triple by Taylor Davis.

North Central took the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth. Taylor Alexander led off with a triple and scored on a double by Jasmine Parker. Parker advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Andrea Raymond and scored on a fly out by Kat Strunk.

MCC tied the game with a run in the fifth as Mica tripled and scored on a double by Davis.

The Lady Lions sealed the win with a run in the top of the seventh. Rachel Kidwell singled and moved to third on a double by Molly Davison. Kidwell then scored on a fly out by Alexander.

North Central defeated the Highlassies 6-1 in the nightcap with Veronica Garcia taking the loss.

The Lady Lions scored one run in the top of the first as Strunk singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tanya Whatley, moved to third on a single by Celina Ortiz and scored on a fly out by Alexander.

North Central added two runs in the second. Jacobi Clark singled and Strunk was hit by the pitch. Both runners scored on a triple by Whatley.

The Lady Lions increased the lead with a run in the third as Alexander reached first on a Highlassie error, stole second and scored on a double by Vanessa Tanksley.

North Central added two more run in the fourth. Strunk doubled and scored on a double by Whatley. Kidwell then singled to score Whatley.

MCC's only run came in the bottom of the fifth as Mica singled, stole second and scored on a double by Kady Crow.

The Highlassies continue conference play on Wednesday, hosting Ranger for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
