Highlassies Sweep Grayson

The McLennan Highlassies swept the Grayson Lady Vikings Monday afternoon in Sherman.

The Highlassies took game one 11-6 with Veronica Garcia picking up the win in the circle.

MCC began the scoring with one run in the first as Taylor Davis singled, stole second, advanced to third on a fly out by Kady Crow and scored on a single by Abby White.

Grayson scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Alicia Weber walked, Rachel Sutton was hit by the pitch and Kelsie Finch walked to load the bases. Megan Allred was hit by the pitch, bringing Weber in to score. Kalee Knight then drew a walk to score Finch.

The Highlassies added six runs in the second. Sevanah Campos-Reyes drew a lead off walk. Tiffany Birdwell followed with a fielder's choice but both runners were safe on a Grayson throwing error. Audrey Calvo singled to load the bases. Davis followed with a double to score Campos-Reyes and Birdwell. Courtney Mica then singled to score Calvo. Crow followed with a single to score Davis and Mica. Natali Duron singled. Lena Capps followed with a double, scoring Duron.

MCC added two more runs in the third. Birdwell drew a walk and moved to second on a ground out by Calvo. Davis followed with a single to score Birdwell. Crow then singled to score Davis.

The Highlassies increased the lead with a run in the fourth as Duron walked and scored on a double by Capps.

Grayson added two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sara Smith doubled and Reagan Querido was safe on an error. Sutton then singled to score Smith and Querido.

MCC added one run in the sixth as Campos-Reyes was safe at first on an error, advanced to second on Calvo's walk and scored on another Grayson error.

Home runs by Sutton and Tabitha Pavelock in the bottom of the seventh rounded out the scoring for Grayson.

The Highlassies defeated the Lady Vikings 18-6 in the nightcap with Laura Wilson getting the win.

MCC scored one run in the first as Davis walked, moved to second on a Grayson error and scored on a single by Duron.

The Lady Vikings tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first. Weber and Pavelock both singled. Sutton was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Lexus Wilson was also hit by the pitch, bringing Weber in to score.

The Highlassies scored six runs in the second. Calvo was safe on a bunt. Davis followed with a home run. Mica singled, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Crow followed with a single to score Mica. White singled and Duron singled to score Crow. Capps followed with a single to score White. Campos-Reyes then doubled to score Duron.

MCC added three runs in the third. Davis hit a solo home run. Crow walked and White singled. Duron then singled to score Crow. Capps was then safe on a error, bringing White in to score.

The Highlassies increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. Calvo singled and Davis walked. Both runners scored on a triple by Crow.

Grayson added four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Knight and Kaitlynn Cullier both singled. Querido followed with a fielder's choice and a Highlassie error brought Knight in to score. Weber singled and Pavelock was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Sutton singled to score Cullier and Quierdo stole home.

The Lady Vikings final run came in the fifth as Kinght walked, advanced to second on a walk by Querido and scored on a single by Weber.

MCC rounded out the scoring with six runs in the top of the seventh. Victoria Gonzalez singled and Brooke Jones drew a walk. Sarah Zamora followed with a double to score Gonzalez. Jones and Zamora scored on a double by Davis. Davis stole third and scored on a fly out by Mica. Crow singled, moved to second on a ground out by White and scored on a single by Duron. Capps then singled to score Duron.

MCC returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Temple for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
